Hi, I'm Rima! I'm the Therapy Manager and an Occupational Therapist who loves supporting people to better understand themselves and feel comfortable in who they are. My approach is relaxed, practical and collaborative, with a particular interest in sensory processing and regulation. Outside of work, I'm a mum of two, a beach lover and a passionate Adelaide 36ers supporter!
What I love most about being an Occupational Therapist is meeting people from all walks of life and being part of their journeys.
For me, OT is about helping people better understand themselves, navigate challenges and work towards goals that are genuinely meaningful to them. Sometimes it's the smallest changes in everyday life that make the biggest difference, and I absolutely love being part of those moments!
I've been an Occupational Therapist since 2009 and have a particular passion for sensory processing and regulation. I enjoy helping people understand why certain environments, sensations or experiences feel the way they do and exploring strategies that work for them.
I also really enjoy working alongside parents and carers, helping them better understand and support their loved ones.
I'd describe myself as a relaxed, down-to-earth OT. My approach is practical, realistic and collaborative, rather than overly clinical.
I believe therapy should fit into a person's life, not the other way around. I enjoy finding creative solutions, recognising people's strengths and working together to make everyday experiences more manageable and meaningful.
Some of my favourite therapy resources include mind maps, fidgets and sensory lap pads, especially when they're warmed up! My absolute favourite is a magnetic fidget spinner.
Occupational Therapy involves so much more than people often realise. We're constantly advocating for the people we support, sometimes while navigating systems that aren't always easy or straightforward.
OT is incredibly practical, but it's also incredibly creative. Sometimes the most meaningful changes come from thinking outside the box.
Most importantly, OT isn't about changing who someone is. It's about understanding them, celebrating their strengths and supporting them to live a life that feels meaningful to them.
Please come as you are and just be yourself! There's no need to feel nervous, have everything figured out or worry about saying the right thing.
I'm here to listen, get to know you and understand what's important to you. We'll work things out together, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Spending time with my family, listening to music, heading to the beach, travelling and exploring new places to eat and drink coffee.
I'm also a huge basketball fan and love going to Adelaide 36ers games!
This is such a hard question because I love SO many foods! You can't go wrong with a big bowl of spicy noodles, but honestly, a delicious bowl of tabouli with some hot chips on the side can go a long way!
It really depends on my mood! One day it might be Rage Against the Machine or Queens of the Stone Age, and the next it could be Baker Boy. I love a bit of everything!
Schitt's Creek! It's one of those shows I can watch over and over and still laugh.
Not at the moment, but I'd absolutely love to have one again! My last pet was a very goofy English Staffy who I miss so much. He had the best personality!
Sunshine, swimming and a long lunch by the water! Give me a beautiful sunny day, a swim at the beach and somewhere lovely to eat afterwards, and I'm very happy.
Definitely the beach! Although I do love a fun night out in the city too.
Two of my favourite travel experiences have been exploring Barcelona and beautiful Malta.
I love discovering new cultures, meeting people and trying amazing food along the way!
Before becoming an Occupational Therapist, I used to be a fitness trainer!
I can happily switch between rock, hip-hop and disco without missing a beat!
Finding great food and coffee spots. I'm always happy to do a little exploring in the name of good food!
Teleportation! Imagine finishing work and instantly finding yourself on a beautiful beach somewhere in the Mediterranean. No airports, no long flights, just straight to the sunshine!
Upside Down by Diana Ross!
Happy dogs! There's something about seeing a dog living its best life that instantly makes me smile.
Playing the guitar! I'd love to be able to pick one up and play my favourite songs.
Food, music and the Adelaide 36ers! Although dogs, travelling and your favourite coffee spots are always welcome topics too!
