Emelie N

Occupational Therapist

Hi, I'm Emelie! I'm an Occupational Therapist who loves helping people build confidence, develop independence and discover what they're capable of. I'm particularly passionate about supporting adolescents and adults with life skills, meaningful activities and important life transitions. My approach is friendly, collaborative and centred around what matters most to you. Outside of work, you'll usually find me gaming, doing Pilates, playing table tennis or opening Pokémon packs!

A Little About Me

One of the things I enjoy most about being an Occupational Therapist is watching people's confidence grow as they develop new skills, navigate challenges and discover just how much they're capable of.

‍

I love getting to know different people, learning about their interests and finding ways to support them to participate in the everyday activities that matter most to them.

‍

For me, some of the most rewarding moments are seeing someone achieve something they may have previously found difficult and recognising the progress they've made along the way.

‍

‍

My Clinical Interests

I'm particularly passionate about supporting adolescents and adults to build independence, develop life skills and participate in meaningful everyday activities.

‍

I really enjoy working alongside people during important life transitions, whether that's developing skills for adulthood, building confidence with everyday routines or working towards greater independence at home and in the community.

‍

Another area I'm particularly interested in is assistive technology prescription, including hoists and transfer equipment, wheelchairs and shower commodes.

‍

I enjoy exploring how the right equipment and practical supports can make everyday activities more accessible, comfortable and manageable.

‍

‍

My Approach to Therapy

I'd describe myself as friendly, approachable and someone who genuinely enjoys getting to know people! I love learning about each person's interests, hobbies, strengths and what's important to them.

‍

My approach is collaborative and person-centred. I believe therapy works best when we work together, build on individual strengths and focus on goals that are meaningful to the person. I want therapy to feel like a positive experience where you can be yourself, share your ideas and have a say in what we work towards.

‍

Everyone is different, and I believe taking the time to understand each person is an important part of finding strategies and supports that genuinely work for them.

‍

‍

My Favourite Therapy Activities and Resources

You can't go wrong with a good game of Uno or Spot It! I love games that bring a little fun into therapy and create opportunities to connect, interact and work on different skills in an enjoyable way.

‍

‍

Something I Wish Everyone Knew About OT

Occupational Therapy covers so many different areas and supports people across all stages of life, from childhood right through to older adulthood. OT might involve developing everyday life skills, building independence, supporting someone to find and maintain employment or exploring equipment that makes daily activities easier and more accessible.

‍

There's so much variety in what we do! At its heart, OT is about supporting people to participate in the activities, routines and experiences that are meaningful to them.

‍

‍

Before Your First Session

I know meeting a new therapist can feel a little daunting, especially when we're meeting for the first time! I'm really looking forward to getting to know you, hearing about your interests and learning what's important to you.

‍

For me, building a positive relationship is an important first step. There's no pressure to jump straight into therapy or have everything figured out before we meet. We can take our time getting to know each other, talk about what you'd like support with and work together from there.

‍

Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable being yourself.
